International scientific seminar: discourse analysis and modern approaches
The faculty members and students of the Department of Romance-Germanic Philology of the Faculty of Foreign Philology at Abu Rayhan Beruni Urgench State University took part in the international scientific seminar entitled “Discourse Analysis: Theoretical Foundations and Modern Approaches” within the framework of linguistic and contemporary linguistic research.
The keynote speaker of the seminar was Professor Johannes Dahm from the University of Nantes (France), who provided a detailed overview of the history of the formation of discourse analysis, its main theoretical schools, methodological approaches, and its role in modern linguistic research. In addition, the professor paid special attention to the close relationship between discourse and the socio-cultural context, as well as to the issues of meaning construction and the formation of social representations through language.
During the seminar, participants actively asked questions related to the topic and engaged in lively academic discussions. At the conclusion of the event, Professor Johannes Dahm was thanked for his informative and academically rich presentation, and the importance of continuing such international scientific meetings in the future was emphasized.
This seminar contributed to broadening students’ academic thinking, familiarizing them with new approaches in linguistics, and promoting the development of international academic cooperation.
