International Conference Held at Urgench State University


Today, February 11, a prestigious conference began at Urgench State University named after Abu Rayhan Biruni within the framework of the international project “Accelerating English Language Learning in Central Asia.”

The conference is dedicated to the topic “Sustainable Support for the Professional Development of English Language Teachers in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan: The PRESETT Experience of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Baishev University, and Urgench State University” and will run on February 11–12.

The conference was opened by Z.Ibragimov, Vice Rector for Research and Innovation of Urgench State University. Welcoming remarks were also delivered by Z.Jumaniyozov, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Philology; Michael Houlgate, Director of the British Council in Uzbekistan; and Jamilya Gulyamova, Director of the AELLCA Program and Deputy Director of the British Council in Uzbekistan, who highlighted the significance of the project. The project leader, Dr. Olanrewaju Olaoye, provided detailed information about the goals and objectives of the initiative.

Within the framework of the conference, presentations are being delivered on relevant topics such as the three-stage model of English language teacher training in modern universities of Kazakhstan, the use of digital tools and applications in foreign language teaching, and mentoring future educators through online teacher communities.

The project aims to enhance the professional capacity of English language teachers, improve educational programs, expand inclusive approaches, and strengthen the role of English as a factor of competitiveness in state policy.

This international cooperation will contribute to raising the quality of English language education in the region to a new level and creating broad opportunities for young people and educators.
