On March 25, a regular scientific-theoretical seminar was held at the Department of Romance-Germanic Philology of the Faculty of Foreign Philology at Urgench State University named after Abu Rayhan Beruni.
The trainee lecturer of the department, Shakhzod Shonazarovich Kholliyev, delivered a presentation on the topic: “Adequate Representation of Linguocultural Units in Translation: Theory and Practice.”
The presentation thoroughly analyzed the role and significance of linguocultural units in the translation process, the challenges that arise when transferring them into another language, and the ways to overcome these difficulties. In particular, issues such as preserving national and cultural color, as well as the adequate rendering of realia, phraseological units, figurative expressions, and onomastic units were discussed based on theoretical approaches and practical examples.
During the seminar, comprehensive answers were given to the participants’ questions, and an engaging scientific discussion on the topic took place.
