The traditional "Kavun sayli" has begun in Ichan-kala!
Today, the traditional “Kavun sayli – 2026” festival began at the historic Ichan-kala complex in Khiva. Urgench State University named after Abu Rayhan Biruni is also actively participating in this major cultural event, which brings together national values, centuries-old traditions, and modern approaches, with its own dedicated pavilion.
The University pavilion has been designed to reflect a harmonious blend of national traditions and modernity. It showcases more than 100 types of unique products, innovative developments, and creative works produced through melon processing as a result of many years of scientific research and applied studies conducted by the University’s scholars. The products on display are a practical reflection of efforts to apply scientific achievements in practice.
Throughout the festival, the Urgench State University pavilion is attracting particular attention from both local and international visitors. The distinctive taste, quality, and production technologies of the products have generated considerable interest, especially among foreign tourists, and have received high appreciation.
As part of the festival, first deputy minister of Higher education, science and innovation Sardor Rajabov, accompanied by rector of Urgench State University Feruza Madrahimova, visited the University pavilion. The guests closely examined the innovative products, scientific developments, and exhibition displays created by the University’s scholars.
The “Kavun sayli – 2026” festival serves as an important platform for Urgench State University not only to showcase its scientific and innovative potential to the wider public, but also to promote new ideas and developments aimed at combining national traditions with scientific achievements and making effective use of the region’s rich natural resources.
