Opening Ceremony of the 3rd International Al-Khwarizmi Mathematics Olympiad Held in Khorezm


Today, May 27, the opening ceremony of the 3rd International Al-Khwarizmi Mathematics Olympiad took place at the "Yoshlik" Sports Complex in Khorezm region. The event was inaugurated with a welcoming speech by S. Salayev, Deputy Governor of Khorezm, who emphasized the international significance of this prestigious Olympiad and its vital role in the advancement of mathematics.

Following the opening, several distinguished guests addressed the audience, including M.Esonov, Deputy Director of the Center for Higher Education Development Research; A.Khudoyberdiyev, Deputy Director of the V.I.Romanovsky Institute of Mathematics at the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan; S.Khodjaniyazov, Acting Rector of Urgench State University; and Professor Z.Ibragimov from California State University, who also serves as the head of the Olympiad’s jury.

As highlighted during the ceremony, this Olympiad is being held in Uzbekistan for the third time, gathering talented students from around the world. The competition will take place on May 28-29 at the "Yoshlik" Sports Complex, bringing together 218 participants from leading countries such as Brazil, the USA, China, India, South Korea, Malaysia, Japan, Vietnam, Russia, Serbia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and many higher education institutions across Uzbekistan.

These bright minds will seek solutions to the most complex mathematical problems using logical and creative approaches. The main goal of this international Olympiad is to widely promote the immense contributions of our great ancestors to world civilization, foster a spirit of friendly competition among gifted students from different countries, and inspire young people to deepen their interest and knowledge in mathematics.
