The First Council Meeting of the 2025/2026 Academic Year Held at Urgench State University

Today, on August 29, 2025, the first Council meeting of the new 2025/2026 academic year was held at Urgench State University named after Abu Rayhon Biruni.

The meeting was organized under the leadership of the acting rector of the university, S.Khodjaniyazov, with the participation of Council members. At the beginning of the meeting, the rector warmly congratulated the staff on the double celebration — the beginning of the new academic year and the 34th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s Independence.

During the meeting, doctoral degrees (DSc – Doctor of Science, and PhD – Doctor of Philosophy), as well as associate professor titles granted by the Higher Attestation Commission, were ceremoniously awarded to faculty members who made a significant contribution to enhancing the university's scientific potential.

Additionally, a diploma was awarded to Charos Masharipova, the university’s occupational safety specialist, who took second place in the regional stage of the competition themed "Organizing Public Control on Labor Protection and Safety" in the category "Young Specialist in Labor Protection."

Furthermore, 14 students from the university who actively participated in the engineering mission held on August 18 in the New Uzbekistan Park — aimed at breaking a Guinness World Record — were awarded special medals.

The meeting also discussed urgent tasks ahead of the university, priority directions, and plans for the new academic year.

The agenda of the Council meeting included the following items:

Information on the state visit of King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Uzbekistan on August 25–26;
Approval of all types of work plans and regulatory documents for the 2025/2026 academic year;
Approval of the youth affairs and spiritual-enlightenment activities plan;
Preparation for the university's accreditation: contents of the Cabinet of Ministers' Resolution No. 498 dated August 6, 2025, and information on internal and external assessment stages;
Approval of the 2025/2026 academic year “Roadmap” for managing the “compliance control” system in the fight against corruption;
Approval of the Council’s work plan and composition for the new academic year.

At the conclusion of the meeting, relevant decisions were adopted for all discussed issues, and responsible persons were assigned for their implementation.
