Urgench State University hosted a seminar on "Anti-Corruption Reforms in the Republic of Uzbekistan."


On May 14, 2022, the Deputy Head of the Office for Coordination of Anti-Corruption Measures of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.R.Muxamatov, Deputy Prosecutor of Khorezm region M.H. Khojayev and Head of the Department of Justice of Khorezm region I.B. Nazarov and others visited Urgench State University.

The guests were welcomed by the university administration. At the beginning of the event, the guests got acquainted with the exhibition of creative works of talented students of the university aimed at combating corruption.

After that, a seminar was held at the Palace of Culture of UrSU with the participation of heads of higher education institutions, teachers and students of the region.

Opening the event, the rector of Urgench State University Bakhrom Abdullayev said that the formation of an intolerant attitude towards corruption in society, especially among young people, is important in the fight against corruption.

Speakers at the seminar focused on the Law "On Combating Corruption", adopted on January 3, 2017 at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev, said that corruption is a huge threat to the socio-economic development of each country. It undermines the moral and ethical foundations of society and undermines people's trust in the state and government, discredits the idea of ​​reform, and negatively affects the participation of citizens in the management of society and state affairs.

They noted that one of the important aspects of the Law on Combating Corruption is the establishment of standards for the detection, suppression and the inevitability of liability of corruption offenses.

They also stressed the importance of legal literacy in the fight against corruption, encouraging people to work honestly, instilling in students a sense of achievement with their knowledge, energy and creativity, the formation of a culture of intolerance and intolerance of corruption.

At the end of the event, activists who are actively involved in the fight against corruption were awarded.
