On January 21 at 2:00 p.m., a regular scientific and theoretical seminar was held in Room 447 at the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology of the Faculty of Foreign Philology of Abu Rayhon Beruni Urgench State University.
The seminar was attended by the faculty members of the department as well as master’s students.During the seminar, trainee lecturer of the department, Oydin Babaniyazova, delivered a presentation entitled “The Works of Hermann Hesse in the Modernism of the 20th Century.” The seminar focused on discussing the artistic and philosophical characteristics of the creative heritage of Hermann Hesse, one of the prominent representatives of European modernism of the twentieth century.
The presentation highlighted the writer’s views on individuality, spiritual quest, the relationship between the individual and society, as well as his aesthetic concept that harmoniously integrates Eastern and Western cultural traditions. Throughout the seminar, participants exchanged views on the symbolic and psychological interpretation of Hesse’s works and their significance in the contemporary literary process.
The seminar aroused great interest among the participants.
