Scientific Activities and Priority Areas

At the Department of Algebra and Mathematical Engineering, three scientific schools have been established to date:
– fluid and gas mechanics,
– direct and inverse problems of scattering theory,
– current issues in modern algebra.

Professors, teachers, and young specialists of the department are conducting scientific research in these areas and have achieved remarkable results.

The department’s priority scientific directions include:

• Investigation of the theory of oscillatory and unsteady flows of rheologically complex fluids
(Scientific supervisor: Prof. K. Navro‘zov; A. Begjanov, Sh. Sharipova, N. Abdikarimov, L. Akmonova, Q. Khaytboev, etc.)

• Direct and inverse problems for solving nonlinear equations
(Scientific supervisor: Prof. G. Urazbayev; M. Khasanov, I. Baltayeva, D. Saparbayeva, etc.)

• Contemporary issues of modern algebra
(Scientific supervisor: Assoc. Prof. B. Yusupov; B. Sultanov, Kh. Atajanov, etc.)

Scientific Projects Conducted in Collaboration

The CCUM (Establishment of Computing Centers and Curriculum Development in Mathematical Engineering) project was funded by the European Union and implemented from 2015 to 2018.
The project coordinator was the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain).

The main goal of the project was to develop a new Master’s program in Mathematical Engineering at five higher education institutions in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, establish computing centers, and modernize curricula in mathematics, mathematical modeling, and numerical methods.
In addition, the program aimed to strengthen practical and innovative education in collaboration with industrial enterprises.

The project focused on modernizing the education system, training specialists in accordance with industry needs, integrating modern computer technologies, and expanding international cooperation.

Project duration: 36 months (15.10.2015 – 14.10.2018)

Scientific Seminars

Two scientific and methodological seminars are organized at the department:

  • “Topical Problems of Mechanics”

  • “Applications of Modern Mathematics”

These joint scientific seminars are held weekly — on Wednesdays at 15:30 and Saturdays at 9:00 — at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, in rooms 415 and 513.
(Seminar supervisors: Prof. K. Navro‘zov and Prof. G. Urazbayev.)
