IMPORTANT INITIATIVES TOWARDS INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AND INNOVATION


From November 26 to December 11, 2025, Z.Ibragimov, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of Urgench State University named after Abu Rayhon Biruni, was on an official visit to the United States of America. The visit was organized at the invitation of California State University, Fullerton.

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen cooperation with U.S. universities and research institutions, attract investments and grants, and study advanced practices for integrating artificial intelligence into education and scientific research.

During the trip, productive meetings were held at the University of California, California State University, and Stanford University, located in Los Angeles, Fullerton, Berkeley, and San Francisco.

In particular, following a meeting with Vice-Rectors Amir Dabirian and Binod Tiwari of California State University in Fullerton, an agreement was reached to donate STEM educational materials worth USD 50,000 to Urgench State University. In addition, U.S. professors will conduct free seminars on the implementation of artificial intelligence in educational and research processes.

In Los Angeles, agreements were reached with University of California professors Mario Bonk and Guido Mantufar to organize a summer school in artificial intelligence at Urgench State University.
In Berkeley, scientific cooperation was established with professors Shakhzod Takhirov and Svetlana Jitomirskaya in the fields of mathematics, construction, and earthquake engineering.

Furthermore, issues related to conducting joint research in mathematics and artificial intelligence were discussed with Ciprian Manolescu, Professor at Stanford University.

A meeting with Agilent Technologies was of particular importance. The company agreed to donate modern chemical laboratory equipment worth USD 250,000 to Urgench State University and to support the establishment of a state-of-the-art laboratory at the university.

This official visit marked a new stage in the international cooperation of Urgench State University. The agreements reached, aimed at improving the quality of education, enhancing scientific potential, and developing innovative infrastructure, will further strengthen the university’s position in the global academic community.
