From 15 to 17 September 2026, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, hosted the latest international consortium meeting of the SILKWAY project, implemented under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education programme.
SILKWAY stands for “Development of Transversal and Sustainable Skills for the Production of Electricity and Heat from Renewable Energy.” The project number is 101179683.
Urgench State University was represented at the international meeting by Gayrat Urazboev, the project’s local coordinator, and Umid Karimov, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Algebra and Mathematical Engineering and representative of Work Package 5.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the current status of the SILKWAY project, completed activities, achieved results, and the tasks to be carried out before the end of the project. The project coordinator and work package leaders also delivered presentations on activities under WP1–WP6.
On 15 September, Umid Karimov delivered a presentation on behalf of Urgench State University concerning WP5 — “Engagement with Business.” The presentation provided information about cooperation with stakeholders, Business Skills Labs activities, the organisation of student practical placements, completed work, and forthcoming priority tasks.
On 16 September, the implementation of Task 5.2 — Business Skills Labs and Task 5.3 — Students Practical Placement under WP5 was discussed in detail. A dedicated session on planning Business Skills Labs activities was chaired by Gayrat Urazboev and Ziyodullo Nurov, a representative of Bukhara State University. The session covered the responsibilities of partner universities, student projects, the development of business skills, and the documentation of relevant results.
On 17 September, technical and educational sessions were organised in a Training-of-Trainers format. The sessions included presentations on teaching computational mechanics at the master’s level, applying machine learning methods using Python in energy systems, utility-scale photovoltaic plants, and the pyRES software package for renewable energy community design.
The consortium meeting in Rome contributed to strengthening the international cooperation of Urgench State University, coordinating activities under the SILKWAY project, learning modern teaching methods, and expanding opportunities for practical and innovative student education.
