Youth Safety — A Top Priority

Today, a preventive awareness event aimed at protecting youngsters from harmful ideas and dangerous influences was organized at Urgench State University. The event was dedicated to the topics “Cybercrime and Its Prevention” and “Fighting Drug Abuse — Our Primary Responsibility.”

The event was attended by the Deputy Governor of the Khorezm region S. Salayev, the Rector of the university F. Madrahimova, vice-rectors, a representative of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center D. Eshchonov, and a representative of the Regional Department of Criminal Investigation, Lieutenant Colonel Q. Jumaniyozov. The participants discussed in detail the threats faced by young people in today’s era of globalization, particularly the negative consequences of cybercrime and drug abuse.

As emphasized, the rapid integration of digital technologies into everyday life has led to growing concern over the increase in cybercrime. Misuse of the internet and social media has resulted in a rise in fraud and personal data theft, urging young people to remain vigilant and aware. At the same time, it was highlighted that drug addiction, one of the most dangerous harmful habits, poses a serious threat not only to individual health but also to the development of society.

During the meeting, students received detailed answers from specialists to their questions.
